An Air India flight from Frankfurt to Delhi made an emergency landing at Jaipur Airport following a reported hijack alert. Security agencies conducted a two-and-a-half-hour inspection, found nothing suspicious and cleared the aircraft to continue its journey.

An Air India flight travelling from Frankfurt to Delhi was cleared to resume its journey after making an emergency landing at Jaipur International Airport following a reported hijack alert on Wednesday morning. Security agencies conducted extensive checks of the aircraft and found nothing suspicious, airport officials said.

The aircraft, operating as flight AI-2030, was diverted to Jaipur after Ahmedabad Air Traffic Control (ATC) reportedly received a hijack alert associated with the flight. The information was subsequently communicated to Jaipur ATC, prompting authorities to arrange an emergency landing at Jaipur International Airport at approximately 9.45 am.

Following the landing, security agencies immediately initiated precautionary procedures. Passengers were deboarded, and the aircraft was moved to an isolation bay for a detailed inspection. Security personnel, including a team from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), examined the aircraft to determine whether any threat was present.

According to preliminary reports, approximately 300 passengers were on board the flight. The security inspection reportedly continued for around two and a half hours. Officials subsequently confirmed that no suspicious objects or materials had been found during the examination.

After completing the security checks, the authorities cleared the aircraft to continue its journey to Delhi. Airport officials said passengers had been asked to reboard flight AI-2030 as preparations were underway for its departure.

The circumstances that triggered the hijack alert remained under investigation at the time of reporting. Security agencies questioned the pilot to establish how the alert had been generated and whether it resulted from an operational mistake or a technical problem.

Initial reports suggested that the alert might have been activated accidentally when the pilot pressed the designated alert button. Another preliminary account indicated that a technical or system error could have generated the message.

However, sources said the pilot denied accidentally pressing the alert button during questioning. No official statement had been issued confirming the precise cause of the alert, and investigators were continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Security was tightened at Jaipur International Airport following the emergency landing. Multiple agencies, including the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), were reported to be present at the airport as part of the precautionary response.

Reports also indicated that a National Security Guard (NSG) team in Delhi had been placed on standby. However, its deployment to Jaipur was not officially confirmed.

According to the flight schedule, the aircraft departed from Frankfurt at 9.45 pm on October 13 and was scheduled to arrive in Delhi at 10.40 am on October 14. The reported hijack alert led to the diversion to Jaipur, temporarily disrupting the flight’s scheduled journey.

A hijack alert is treated seriously by aviation authorities because it may indicate unlawful interference with an aircraft. One internationally recognised signal associated with such situations is transponder code 7500, which pilots use to indicate unlawful interference, including a hijacking.

When air traffic control receives a hijack-related signal, it can trigger immediate coordination between the flight crew, ATC and security agencies. Authorities may arrange a diversion, secure the aircraft after landing and conduct detailed inspections to establish whether passengers, crew members or the aircraft are at risk.

Such precautionary procedures may continue even when officials suspect that an alert could have resulted from an accidental activation or a technical fault. The aircraft is generally assessed before authorities decide whether it can safely continue its journey.

In this incident, the security inspection did not identify any suspicious objects on board, allowing the aircraft to be cleared for onward travel to Delhi. Nevertheless, the exact circumstances behind the alert had not been officially established.

The incident highlighted the importance of aviation security protocols and coordination among airport authorities, air traffic control and security agencies in responding to potential threats. Further clarification from the relevant authorities is expected to establish how the alert was triggered and whether any technical or operational issue contributed to the incident.
