Krishnagiri/Chennai: The opposition party in southern state of Tamil Nadu, AIADMK, declared on Thursday that it will stand firm on its decision to sever ties with the BJP, media reports said.

The party reaffirmed its commitment to forming alliances for both the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and the upcoming assembly polls, said a report in the media.

Deputy General Secretary KP Munusamy stated that there is no room for reconsideration after the decision was made on September 25.

He maintained that the AIADMK must respect the sentiments of its two crore party workers.

After a meeting led by party General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami in Chennai, the AIADMK announced its separation from the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance.

According to the media report, Munusamy said Krishnagiri that AIADMK had not asked BJP to remove its state president (K Annamalai).

In Chennai, former Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, who was expelled from the AIADMK, accused Palaniswami of severing ties with the BJP.

Panneerselvam told the media that BJP leaders have been in regular communication with him, and he will declare his position once the BJP officially announces its stance on the alliance.
