Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, has said that India is now self-sufficient in food production. He said that the country is currently producing enough to feed not only its own population but also to support other nations.
He expressed hope that India will emerge as the food basket of the world. The Minister was speaking at the 110th anniversary celebration of Jagadguru Dr. Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswami in Mysuru today.
He urged the citizens to unite and support local products. To address the challenges faced by small farmers, the Minister added that the government is working towards making integrated farming a viable solution.
