Mumbai/IBNS: After Brahmastra and Jawan, Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone is set to play a mother in her upcoming film Kalki 2898 AD, which is directed by Nag Ashwin.

The trailer of the film was dropped on Monday.

Mom-to-be Deepikas baby bump didnt go unnoticed amid the grandeur which is promised by the trailer.

Some of the social media users have come up with unique theories regarding the films plot claiming Deepikas unborn child will be Kalkis avatar.

Earlier, Deepika played the mothers role in Brahmastra Part One: Shiva in a cameo. The Ayan Mukerji directorial starred Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan in the lead.

In last years blockbuster Jawan, Deepika played the mother of the younger version of Shah Rukh Khan, who had a double role.

In real life, Deepika is expecting her first child in September 2024.

Apart from Deepika, Kalki 2898 AD features Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Disha Patani in the lead.

The films timeline will commence with Indian epic Mahabharata and merge with 2989 AD.

Speaking of the film, Ashwin had said as quoted by News 18, The film starts with Mahabharat and ends in 2898 AD. It spans 6000 years in time. We tried to create worlds, imagining what they would be like while still keeping it Indian, and not make it look like Blade Runner.

The film begins 6000 years behind 2898 AD is 3102 BC, which is when the last avatar of Krishna is believed to have passed.

The film is slated to release on June 27.
