The Asian Development Bank will fund Tripura with Rs 7-8000 crore for the next 4-5 years in several projects. This will be the biggest external aid for the state.
Chief Secretary Kumar Alok said, “strategic Partnership Mission of ADB in Tripura has been successfully completed. ADB will be funding projects worth Rs 7-8000 Crore over the next 4-5 years excluding the current projects. In addition they will also provide technical assistance and support for diagnostic studies”.
Apart from these, the Chief secretary added , “projects requiring regional cooperation with Bangladesh have also been identified and will be taken forward with consent of both country Governments”.
The ADB decision was the results of recent meeting of the Bank’s headquarters representative delegation led by Sameer Khare, ED ADB and County Director Mr Takeo Konishi with Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma and senior officials of the state. The Chief Minister had requested the ADB to help the state government in priority sector developments.
