Kolkata/IBNS: Actress-turned politician Nussrat Jahan has been asked by the Alipore Court to appear before it in connection with a case pertaining to her association as a director with a company which allegedly duped people with the promise of providing flats, media reports said.

In September last year, a court had asked her to physically appear in the case.

Nussrat, a Trinamool Congress MP, had challenged the order in a higher court, which on Tuesday upheld the lower courts order.

The popular Tollywood actress was also quizzed by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the case for nearly six hours last year.

What is the accusation?

The complaint filed by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shankudeb Panda with the ED claimed a financial entity named Seven Sense Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd., where Nussrat reportedly served as the director for a few years, received around Rs 6,00,000 from each of the duped investors and promised them residential flats at reasonable rates within the span of four years.

It has been alleged that Nussrat also took a loan from the company and bought her house.

Nussrats immediate reaction

After the allegations were levelled against her, Nussrat, who is an MP from West Bengals Basirhat constituency, held a press conference at Kolkata Press Club for a clarification.

The company, which I had quit in 2017, had given me a loan but I have returned it back with interest. I have all my bank statements, Nussrat had said.

I have the details of my bank transactions. If someone needs to check, they can approach the court for a copy, said the TMC MP flashing the documents. I am three hundred percent away from corruption, she had added.
