The process of preparing new voter list by linking Aadhar card with Voter ID card through Form-6 according to the guidelines of the Election Commission has started in West Tripura district, informed West Tripura District Magistrate Debapriya Bardhan in a pressmeet held at the conference hall of the West Tripura DM office yesterday. He informed that in case anyone could not link their Aadhar card for any reason, then the voter name shall not be negated from the list. This step is being taken just to ensure transparent voter enrolment. All the information and identity of the voter shall be kept confidential.
The District Magistrate also informed that new voter ID cards earlier used to be provided once a year on January 1 and new voter would get the chance to get enrolled only once a year after a voter has turned 18 years. Changes have been brought in these rules. Now the voters can easily enroll themselves four times year- on January 1, April 1, July 1 and October 1 as well as get new voter ID cards. He informed that amendments have also been made in the forms related to claims and objections. New voters may apply only through amended Form-6. In the amendment of present form, one can apply for change in address from one legislative assembly constituency to the other through Form 6. Few changes have been made in Form-7 through which one can add or delete name from the voter list. Changing of address, updating voter information, establish voter identification and identifying the disabled etc. can be done through Form 8.
