A startup initiative in Tripura, ‘Knock A Doc’ has come up with this unique way of providing healthcare to the people.

A request through the App or call centre will connect you with the service provider and enable you to get healthcare at home. Even hospitalisation, if needed, to be taken care of. Yes, you read it right.

The app-based service has already received good response from the people in its first year of journey, according to an official engaged with the start-up.

Homagni Roy Chowdhury, Director (operations) of the organization, said the service is now available in Agartala Municipal Corporation area at present.

Not only that the Tripura based Start-up has already started operations in Bhopal.

“We are contemplating a plan to expand our service area across the state as well as a target has now been set to work for the school students,” Roy Chowdhury told Tripura Times.

If anyone places a request through the app or call centre, a team of doctor and nurse visits his/ her residence and provide necessary service with minimal charge.

“The nurse first visits the patient’s home and conducts six medical tests including blood sugar test. Based on the tests and medical history of the patient, the doctor then prescribes medicines and puts necessary suggestions,” he said, adding that the starting charge for the service is only Rs. 699 and it is available from 8 am to 8 pm.

In cases of emergency also the nurse or the attending doctor will help the patient in whatever is required.

Lieutenant Colonel (retd.) Malay Shankar Paul and his brother Parag Pal, son of the soil now residing outside the state saw this dream to serve the people of their birthplace Tripura. Now they have expanded this service even in Bhopal.

Roy Choudhury said around  1500 people in Agartala and its adjacent area are now availing this service.

In coming days IOT (Internet of things) based health care system and devices are going to be introduced along with health insurance and other medical consumables Online.

Importantly, the start-up has come up with a plan to create awareness and will organize talks and seminars in schools- first being the private schools in the city.

On 16th May 2021 on the eve of it’s anniversary, Knock A Doc held a programme in Muktadhara auditorium Agartala where many renowned doctors- Dr.Jayanta Ray, Dr. Tarun Guha, Dr.Abhijit Dutta and Dr.Kanak Chowdhuri were present.

Dr. Ray said, the Knock A Doc is the bridge to establish the faith among the patients and doctors while Dr. Guha opined that the service is functioning as a catalyst to revive the long lost House physician culture in households of this small hilly state.

Dr. Datta said that he is overwhelmed by this innovative idea of Knock A Doc which he believes shall elevate health care system to a new height.

Dr. Kanak Chaudhuri said that in post covid scenario such attempts are needed not only in Agartala but in even in the remotest corner of the state if possible the country as early as possible.
