In an attempt to give a fillip to the tourism sector in the state Tripura Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) has signed a concession agreement with Infovalley Educational Research Private Ltd., Guwahati for running the proposed State Institute of Hotel Management (SIHM) being set up at Anandanagar in PPP model.

Tourism Minister Pranajit Singha Roy along with officials of the Tourism department was present in the agreement signing ceremony held at Geetanjali Tourism Guest House on Monday.

Among the facilities, the agreement included commencement of academic activities. The proposed SIHM would offer various courses- B.Sc Degree in Hospitality and Hotel Administration, one and half year Diploma in Food Production, one and half year Diploma in Food and Beverages Services, one and half year Diploma in Bakery and Confectionery, one and half Year Diploma in Housekeeping and one and half year Diploma in Front Office Operations.

Commenting on the agreement, the Tourism minister tweeted that the initiative would be very much helpful for youths who are interested in the Hospitality sector and it would also generate livelihood opportunities for many and boost the Tourism sector of the State.

According to the agreement, the institute will be transferred on “as is basis”. Additional infrastructure and equipment required will be the responsibility of Infovalley with prior approval of TTDCL. If the Society receives any fund from the Ministry of Tourism, Gol, for equipment, then it will be invested in the institute. Infovalley should get accreditation of the institute from NCHM&CT/AICTE ,UGC-Added/Higher Education Council of INDIA as per NEP within 1 year.

Infovalley may add more courses with the permission of TTDCL other than those already prescribed in this agreement but those courses should be related only to hospitality and Tourism and its allied sector. Infovalley shall engage qualified academic and administrative manpower as per the prescribed guidelines.

Infovalley will have liberty to seek funds from the different statutory body including DoNER/ NSDC/MOLE/MSDE/Govt. of India for the development of the campus and facilities. But all such applications shall be made through TTDCL for approval and TTDCL will be the governing partner in such allocated funds if any.

Infovalley shall ensure placement to all the students and handhold them for at least one year. Infovalley will follow the curricula prescribed by NCHMCT for both the degree and diploma courses in the SIHM.

lnfovalley will follow the academic/admission norms prescribed by NCHMCT (A central apex body for this purpose).

Infovalley shall charge fee as prescribed by the National Council of Hotel Management & Catering Technology (NCHMCT) for the degree course and for the diploma course the fee shall be fixed in consultation with the NCHMCT 10. Financial Support by TTDCL for SIHM: 

Initially, the purchase of equipment shall be done by TTDCL from the fund received from central government. And if any additional equipment is required then it will be borne by the Infovalley Educational & Research Pvt. Ltd.

Any further allocation of fund by MoT for SIHM, Tripura will be invested in the project through TTDCL. Infovalley will provide the entire fund which is required for project management, operations maintenance, functioning of the Institute, quality control, digital reach and education.
