In a significant move to enhance healthcare facilities in Tripura, the state government is actively considering plans to bolster the neuro unit at Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) and GBP Hospital. Renowned neurosurgeon Dr. Sidda Reddy shared this development during a press conference held on Thursday.
Dr. Reddy lauded the remarkable progress achieved in the field of neurosurgery at GB Hospital over the last four years since the inception of the Neuro Department in 2019.
He reported that the hospital had successfully conducted 1,350 operations on patients suffering from brain tumours, trauma cases, spine-related issues, and other complex surgical procedures.
Dr. Reddy, the department’s strength, emphasised the presence of experienced medical professionals and staff, along with state-of-the-art medical tools and equipment. He also disclosed that there were plans for further enhancement in the near future.
The government’s forthcoming efforts aim to reinforce the neuro infrastructure at GBP Hospital, including the procurement of advanced medical machinery. This initiative holds the promise of reducing the outflow of patients seeking treatment outside the state.
Presently, the rate of patients seeking medical care elsewhere has already dropped by 60 percent, indicating significant progress in local healthcare services.
