New Delhi/IBNS/UNI: The Supreme Court Monday said that it would pass orders on Friday to facilitate the proper functioning of the Committee headed by Justice (Retd) Gita Mittal which was set up to monitor relief work, rehabilitation, compensation, and healing of violence-hit Manipur.

While taking into record Justice (Retd) Mittal report, the apex court bench, headed by the Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dhananjaya Yeshwant Chandrachud said, We have received three reports from the committee headed by Justice (retd) Gita Mittal in the Manipur violence matter.

During the course of the hearing, Justice Mittals panel, which was constituted on the orders of the top court, said the essential documents of many victims of Manipur violence need to be reissued as they have lost their Aadhaar cards, ration cards, driving licenses, etc.

The panel said that a nodal officer needs to be appointed to help victims get lost documents restored.

The victim compensation rules be made in confirmity with NALSA. More domain experts need to be appointed.

Justice Mittal panel sought further directions from the SC, in these issues, to which, the apex court said, it would pass directions on Friday.

Certain procedural directions would require to be issued for administrative assistance, to meet financial expenses of the committee, etc., the top court said.
