The process of on-the-spot registration of Amarnath Yatris started in Jammu today. Over 1,500 pilgrims, including sadhus, have arrived in Jammu to visit Amarnath shrine. An on-the-spot registration centre has been set up for unregistered pilgrims in Shalimar area of the Jammu city and a special camp for registration of sadhus has been set up at Purani Mandi-based Ram temple complex. Over 1000 Yatris have arrived at the Bhagwati-Nagar base camp in Jammu for their onward journey to Amarnath shrine.

The 62-day yatra is an important pilgrimage for Hindus who visit the Amarnath Cave, believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva. The pilgrimage will start from the ancient paths of Nunwan in Pahalgam and Baltal in the Ganderbal district of Kashmir. Director General of Police, Dilbag Singh: Additional Chief Secretary, Raj Kumar Goyal; Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor, Mandeep Kumar Bhandari yesterday took an extensive tour of the twin routes of pilgrimage to Amarnath Yatra.
