Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb assured all round development of the Tea workers of the state. The Chief Minister’s assurance came when a delegation of the tea labourers led by BJP Tea Cell prabhari Santosh Saha met him in the secretariat and submitted a memorandum.
The history of tea industry in Tripura goes back to 105 years and since 1949 the state has been under Congress and Left Front regimes for more than 70 years. But this was for the first time that tea workers of the state could meet a Chief Minister in his office chamber to press for their demands.
The Tea Cell of the BJP had earlier held a meeting in BJP headquarters at Krishnanagar and discussed various issues and perennial problems that the tea labourers had been facing for ages. BJP president Dr Manik Saha also attended the meeting for a while.
After the meeting an 11- member delegation led by Saha and Tea Cell convenor Chandra sekhar Kurmi and Co convenor Indrabhusan Goala went to Civil secretariat to meet the Chief Minister.
The charter of demands that they placed before the Chief Minister included some basic demands like pure drinking water, power, education for the workers’ children, health cads, housing under PMAY , special coaching for the students belonging to the tea workers families, social assurance schemes for the eligible etc.
Deb listened to their demands and assured them that the state government would look into the matter sympathetically and implement the demands as and when possible for their all round development.
