In a significant breakthrough, the Hailakandi Police have detained two women from Tripura on charges of their involvement in drug trafficking. The arrest took place following a well-coordinated operation prompted by a confidential tip-off received by the authorities.

Acting swiftly on the information, the police conducted a raid at the residence of Najmul Hossain, also known as Raja, in Kabariband village. During the raid, law enforcement officials discovered and seized 44 grams of heroin along with a sum of Rs 85,350 in cash. The operation resulted in the arrest of Najimul Hossain as well as the two women from Tripura identified as Riti Tripura and Bari Choroi. Both women belong to the Damcherra area in the North Tripura district.

The Hailakandi Police had received intelligence indicating that women from Tripura were frequenting Najmul Hossain’s house to procure drugs for distribution within Tripura. After closely monitoring the situation, the police executed the raid based on concrete information, which led to the apprehension of the suspects and the seizure of narcotics and cash.

Samarjit Basumatari, Officer-in-Charge of Hailakandi Police Station, disclosed that the investigation suggests the involvement of several other women in the illicit drug trade. The authorities are actively monitoring their activities to prevent further distribution.

Authorities suspect the involvement of several other women in the illegal drug trade and have intensified their surveillance efforts to apprehend those responsible. The successful operation highlights the commitment of the Hailakandi Police to combating drug trafficking and ensuring the safety and well-being of the region.
