South Asian Federation Cross Country Championships will be held in Kohima on 15th January 2022. While the 56th National Cross Country Championships which is also being hosted by Nagaland will be clubbed with the South Asian Federation Cross Country Championships. This was announced by Associate Vice President of Athletics Federation of India, AFI, Abu Metha during a press conference held at Kohima today.
Metha said, they are happy to announce that the South Asian Cross Country Championship will be hosted by India and the AFI has allowed the South Asian Cross Country Championship to Nagaland.
He said, this will be perhaps the biggest ever international event to be hosted in Nagaland and it will bring athletes, officials and delegates from the entire South Asian convention to the state. He said, AFI is very keen to promote Athletics in the entire North-Eastern region and Nagaland.
In a tweet, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio also announced that India will host the South Asian Cross Country Championships in Nagaland. He expressed gratitude to South Asian Athletics Federation & Athletics Federation of India, SAAF. The Chief Minister extended Special appreciation to SAAF President Dr. Lalit Bhanot for his support, and Abu Metha for the outstanding work.
