Amtali police took prompt action and nabbed a rape accused within 24 hours of the crime.
While the incident appeared to be gang-rape, as stated by the victim’s family, police has been able to arrest only one youth so far.
According to the victim’s mother, the 21-year-old girl was in college and she had talked to her father over telephone at 3.30 pm on Monday. But the college girl didn’t return home and her mobile was then found switched off.
The victim was finally recovered from the bypass road. She was found unconscious. The victim was then taken to the hospital.
The victim’s mother informed the media that her daughter was on the way to home and she was then picked up by Gautam for drop in a vehicle. There were three others including the driver in the vehicle.
Police already initiated a probe into the incident and recorded the victim’s statement.
