Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb called for unity and harmony among all sections of people.

“This will be the highest of all tributes to the men in khakis who made supreme sacrifice for our safety and security”, said the Chief Minister while speaking on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day 2021 in Agartala Police Line at Arundhutinagar on Thursday.

“In 2020-21, a total of 377 jawans were martyred in the country. They were engaged in safeguarding the solidarity of the country. The supreme sacrifice of these jawans will inspire in strengthening the unity and solidarity of the country in coming days”, he said.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said, Chinese troops ambushed the patrolling Indian soldiers in Ladakh in 1959. In the unexpected attack, 10 Indian jawans were martyred. “Even as observance of the Day in the country started in 1960, the Day is being observed as the Police Commemoration Day since 2012”, he said.

The Chief Minister exuded confidence and said, the Indian soldiers, Para military forces and Police forces deployed along the international borders as well as for internal security will be able to discharge their duties and responsibilities even more efficiently and expertly.

National Police Commemoration Day, in the memory of brave Policemen who sacrificed their lives for the country, is observed on October 21 every year in the country. Along with the nation, the main programme on this Day in Tripura was held at Police Line at Manoranjan Debbarma Smriti Stadium at Arundhutinagar in Agartala today.

Among others, chief secretary of Tripura Kumar Alok, DG VS Yadav and other Police officials also offered tributes to bravehearts in today’s Police Commemoration Day programme.
