The two-day 21st State-Level Buisu Festival was inaugurated today at Tholibari Higher Secondary School of Kathalia block area. The festival has been organised by Tripura Chubalai Buthu. Amidst huge number of people gathering in the programme, Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha officially inaugurated the festival by lighting the lamp. In the inaugural programme, the Chief Minister said, new year is being celebrated by different communities by different names and in different ways. The celebration of new year among the indigenous Tripuri community is known as Buisu, which is rooted with their traditional lifestyle, religious tradition, and culture. Different tribal social programmes were very much neglected during the era of the previous governments, whereas different development works for tribal welfare have been taken soon after the present government took over. Apart from that, importance has been given to Buisu Festival for the development of culture and language of the Tripuri community.

  The Chief Minister also said, exchange of ideas happens only through cultural exchange among people, which strengthens the sense of unity among people. The central as well as the state government have been relentlessly working towards the development in culture and education of the tribals. He said, in order to provide education to the children of poor tribal families, the present state government has taken up the work of setting up more 16 Eklavya Model Residential Schools in the state. The government has taken breakthrough initiatives towards travel by air, construction of roads and improving rail services in order to improve connectivity and transport system of the state. The Chief Minister further said, efforts to build One Tripura, Best Tripura is continued by the present government following the mantra of ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas’ in order to deliver services of different central and state government schemes till the last person of the society.

  Speaking about the significance of the Buisu Festival, MP Rebati Tripura in the programme said, just as we bid goodbye to the previous and welcome Bengali New Year, similarly the Tripuri community welcome the new year and is known as Buisu. Other dignitaries such as MDC Padmalochan Tripura, Former Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma, Sepahijala District Magistrate & Collector Dr. Vishal Kumar and Naran of Tripura community Birendra Tripura also spoke on the occasion. Welcome speech was delivered by the Secretary of the 21st State-Level Buisu Festival Sukurai Tripura.
