The CBI took up three cases relating to two chit-fund companies in the Khowai district on the special instructions of the state and central governments.

As the cases could not be settled in the local court, two CBI teams arrived in Khowai and appealed before the Judge of the Khowai District Court for handing over the three cases – one against Kama India Private Limited and two cases against Support India Chit Fund companies.

A case was filed against Kama India Private Limited after the officials of the company fled away robbing the investors and without paying the investors their dues. The then SDM of Teliamura lodged a complaint in 2012 against Chit Fund Company.

Two investors in the Khowai Chebri area, Amrit Debnath and Jitendra Debnath lodged two separate complaints against Support India Chit Fund Company in 2012 and 2019 after the company vanished into thin air without paying them money after the maturity of their policies.

As the court continued the cases but there was no settlement, two special delegations of the CBI came to Khowai on the instructions of the state and central governments. Based on the appeal made by the CBI teams, Khowai District Court Judge handed over the cases as per procedures.

West Harina sub centre gets NQAS certification

The State Government has accorded importance to improving the rural healthcare system. With relentless efforts, several health centres made considerable improvements in maintaining stipulated Quality Standards.

West Harina Health and Wellness Centre, a health sub-centre, in Sabroom received National Quality Assurance Standard (NQAS) certification recently.

NQAS Program was launched by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare with the aim of recognizing the good performing facilities as well as improving the credibility of public hospitals in the community.  West Harina Health and Wellness Centre is the first Health sub-centre that received the NQAS certification for three years without any conditionality in the South District.

Notably, the Central Government started implementing the NQAS programme for the Health sub-centres in this year.

Under the supervision of the District Health Officer of the South District, a continuous effort is being made to improve the quality of every health centre in the South district. A total of five centres were inspected by the central team in the current financial year and the results of one are yet to be announced.

Untiring efforts by the concerned Government, officials, staff, PRI representatives and local people helped the West Harina sub-health Centre in achieving success. Members of the Jana Aarogya Samiti also played a crucial role in evolving the Heath Sub centre.
