The man animal conflicts are taking tiurn for the worse with every passing day , specially in Kalyanpur -Teliamura hilly and remote region with wild pachyderms frequently visiting the human habitants and wrecking havoc on their way. Only a day after trampling a woman a herd of wild elephants once again strolled into Maharanipur Kapalitila village under Krishnapur Assembly constituency on Friday late night and damaged standing crops. Fortunately this time they did not attack humans.

The Villagers say there will be at least 12-14 full grown jumbs in the herd.

Even as the elephants come visiting the human habitants as they find the villages came up encroaching their their traditional roaming ground or path ( Dowal) the villagers find the jumbo attacks are a serious menace for their life as well as livelihood.

Venting anger at the Forest department personnel, the villagers alleged, Forest department was supposed to provide lights to the farmers for installing those in fields – however, the department did not provide the lights, so far.

Moreover, the villagers alleged, wild elephants destroyed their crops on earlier occasions also – however, the Forest department did not compensate the affected farmers even though farmers applied for compensation to the forest department as well as the administration.

“We have one-point demand – compensate our losses and permanently stop the unabated elephant attacks”, villagers told the media.
