The BJP has filed nominations for all 51 Agartala Municipal Corporation wards ahead of the November 27 civic elections. Chief Minister Manik Saha expressed confidence in securing a stronger mandate, highlighting development initiatives, welfare programmes and organisational strength.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday completed the nomination filing process for all 51 wards of the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC), formally beginning its preparations for the upcoming civic elections scheduled for November 27. Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha expressed confidence that the party would secure a stronger mandate than in previous elections.
The nomination papers were submitted at the office of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Sadar, in the presence of Chief Minister Manik Saha and several senior BJP leaders. A large number of party workers, supporters and local organisational representatives gathered during the nomination process, turning the occasion into a significant political mobilisation programme for the ruling party.
Before the candidates submitted their nomination papers, the Chief Minister held a strategic meeting with BJP candidates and organisational leaders at the State Guest House. During the meeting, he discussed the party’s electoral preparations and outlined its approach for the upcoming municipal elections. He also instructed candidates to conduct peaceful, disciplined and people-oriented campaigns.
Addressing party workers and candidates, Saha said the BJP would approach voters on the basis of its development record and public welfare initiatives implemented across urban and rural areas of Tripura. He emphasised that the party’s commitment to serving people should continue throughout the year rather than becoming limited to election periods.
According to the Chief Minister, the BJP’s political philosophy focuses on ensuring that government benefits and development schemes reach every section of society, particularly people at the grassroots level. He maintained that the party’s continuous engagement with citizens and organisational activities had helped strengthen public confidence.

Saha also referred to the large gathering of party supporters during the nomination filing process, describing it as a reflection of enthusiasm among BJP workers and supporters. He said the participation demonstrated the organisational strength of the party and the support it was receiving from people.
Expressing confidence about the BJP’s electoral prospects, the Chief Minister said the party expected to perform strongly not only in Agartala but also in other urban local bodies across the state. Referring to the party’s previous electoral performance, he indicated that the BJP was aiming to retain control of civic institutions while improving its earlier results.
He urged all candidates to strengthen their direct interaction with residents and intensify public outreach during the campaign period. According to Saha, candidates should communicate the achievements of the government while giving proper attention to local issues and the concerns of residents.
The Chief Minister further appealed to party workers and candidates to maintain a peaceful election atmosphere. He said the campaign should focus on development, governance and public welfare rather than unnecessary political confrontation.
Taking aim at opposition parties, Saha suggested that rival political forces were facing internal differences and organisational challenges. In contrast, he maintained that the BJP remained united and prepared to face the upcoming electoral contest.

The November 27 municipal elections are expected to witness an intense political contest as parties seek to strengthen their position in the state’s urban local bodies. The BJP’s decision to field candidates in every AMC ward reflects its intention to contest the election across the entire municipal area and retain its political influence in Agartala.
As campaigning gathers momentum, the ruling party is seeking to convert its organisational mobilisation and governance record into electoral support, while Chief Minister Manik Saha has expressed confidence that the BJP will receive a stronger public mandate in the upcoming civic polls.
