Actress Sree Leela’s character Roja has been revealed in Dhanush and Mammootty-starrer action entertainer Om, directed by Rajkumar Periasamy. The film also features Sai Pallavi and Naseeruddin Shah and is scheduled for worldwide theatrical release on November 20.

The makers of director Rajkumar Periasamy’s upcoming action entertainer ‘Om’ have officially revealed actress Sree Leela’s character and first look, adding to the growing excitement surrounding the much-anticipated film starring Dhanush and Malayalam superstar Mammootty. The actress will portray a character named Roja in the film, which is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 20.

Wunderbar Films, one of the production houses behind the project, announced Sree Leela’s character through its official X account on Tuesday. The production house also shared a brief video featuring the actress from the film’s upcoming song ‘Senjudare’, which is the third single from the soundtrack.

Introducing the actress as Roja, the makers indicated that the song would be released the following day. The announcement quickly attracted attention from fans, particularly those eagerly waiting to see Sree Leela alongside Dhanush and Mammootty.

Before revealing Sree Leela’s character, the filmmakers had introduced Sai Pallavi as Nithya Reddy, an IPS officer in the film. Director Rajkumar Periasamy shared a character-introduction video on social media, praising Sai Pallavi’s performance and introducing her as an IPS officer from Naidupeta.

Responding to the director, Sai Pallavi expressed gratitude for being selected for the role and said she could see her alter ego in the character of Nithya Reddy. This project also marks another collaboration between the actress and Rajkumar Periasamy, following their earlier film ‘Amaran’.

According to the character details shared by the makers, Nithya Reddy belongs to the Andhra Pradesh police cadre. After serving in the state police department, she is inducted into the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as an Additional Superintendent to work with Interpol. Described as honest, intelligent and experienced despite her young age, she is also responsible for leading the operation named ‘OM’.

The film has generated considerable interest because it brings Dhanush and Mammootty together for the first time. Rajkumar Periasamy previously confirmed that Mammootty plays a character named Karthikeyan. Bollywood veteran Naseeruddin Shah is also part of the ensemble cast, making the project one of the most anticipated multi-starrer films.

The makers had initially planned to release ‘Om’ on October 16. However, Dhanush subsequently announced a postponement, explaining that the decision was taken out of respect for Superstar Rajinikanth, whose film ‘Jailer 2’ was scheduled to arrive on October 15. The team also decided against a Deepavali release after Suriya’s film had already been announced for the festive period. November 20 was later confirmed as the new release date.

The film’s title teaser, released earlier, offered glimpses of a story involving illegal red sanders logging. Dhanush reportedly plays a woodcutter, and the teaser showed police personnel confronting workers involved in cutting red sanders illegally before his character steps in to rescue them.

At the title teaser launch event in June, director Rajkumar Periasamy revealed that approximately 60 to 65 per cent of the film’s shooting had been completed at that stage. The team also recently filmed portions of the project in Malaysia.

Wunderbar Films executive Sreyas had earlier described ‘Om’ as one of the biggest-budget films in Dhanush’s career, promising audiences a return of the actor’s powerful mass-action style. Mammootty also celebrated his recent National Award recognition on the film’s sets alongside Dhanush, Rajkumar Periasamy and editor Kalaivanan.

With Dhanush, Mammootty, Sai Pallavi, Sree Leela and Naseeruddin Shah coming together, ‘Om: Chapter 1’ is building considerable anticipation among movie enthusiasts ahead of its November 20 worldwide theatrical release.
