Tripura Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury distributed uniforms to prepaid taxi and auto-rickshaw drivers at MBB Airport ahead of Sharadotsav, urging professional discipline, cleanliness and courteous behaviour to improve tourist experiences, strengthen hospitality and promote Tripura as a welcoming tourism destination.

Tripura Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury distributed uniforms among prepaid taxi and auto-rickshaw drivers at Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport ahead of the upcoming Sharadotsav festivities, emphasizing the importance of professional discipline, cleanliness and courteous behaviour in promoting tourism in the state.

The initiative, undertaken by the Transport Department of the Tripura government, aims to improve the organization, reliability and passenger-friendliness of transport services at the airport. It also seeks to ensure safe, comfortable and welcoming journeys for tourists arriving in Tripura during the festive season.

Addressing the drivers, Chowdhury highlighted the importance of uniforms beyond their practical purpose as work attire. He said that uniforms represent professional discipline, responsibility, cleanliness and a commitment to maintaining service standards. According to the minister, drivers have a significant role in shaping visitors’ first impressions of Tripura because they are often among the first people tourists interact with upon arriving at the airport.

With Sharadotsav expected to bring visitors to the state, the minister stressed that the behaviour of transport workers could influence how tourists perceive Tripura’s hospitality and tourism facilities. He encouraged drivers to maintain a professional appearance, follow discipline and provide reliable services to passengers.

Invoking the traditional Indian philosophy of Atithi Devo Bhava, which means that guests should be treated like God, Chowdhury urged prepaid taxi and auto-rickshaw drivers to behave politely, courteously and cooperatively with every passenger. He emphasized that respectful communication and a welcoming attitude are essential elements of good hospitality.

The minister also underlined the importance of honesty, cleanliness and responsible conduct in building a positive image of Tripura among visitors from different parts of India and abroad. He called upon drivers to recognize their responsibilities as representatives of the state’s hospitality sector and contribute to creating a comfortable travel experience for tourists.

The distribution of uniforms is part of the broader effort to make airport transportation more organized and passenger-friendly. A professional appearance, combined with courteous behaviour and dependable service, can help passengers feel more comfortable while travelling from the airport to their destinations.

Chowdhury urged transport workers to work collectively towards strengthening Tripura’s reputation as a welcoming tourism destination. He expressed confidence that cooperation among drivers and other stakeholders would contribute to safer, more organized and more comfortable transportation services.

He emphasized that warm interactions and responsible service could help foster a lasting connection between tourists and the state.

With the festive season approaching, the initiative highlights the role of airport transport workers in supporting tourism and ensuring that visitors experience Tripura’s hospitality from the moment they arrive. The emphasis on discipline, cleanliness and courteous service is intended to complement the state’s efforts to present a welcoming environment for tourists during Sharadotsav and beyond.
