Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury welcomed freshers at Maharaja Bir Bikram College’s 2026-27 Nabin Baran ceremony, urging students to dream big, work hard, build strong values and contribute to the future development of Tripura and India.

The beginning of the 2026-27 academic session at Maharaja Bir Bikram College (MBB College) was marked by a vibrant Nabin Baran (Freshers’ Welcome) ceremony at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan, where Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury welcomed the newly admitted students and encouraged them to pursue their dreams with dedication, discipline and confidence.

Addressing the freshers, Minister Chowdhury said he was delighted and proud to be part of the welcome programme for the new students of Maharaja Bir Bikram College. He described the beginning of college life as an important milestone and said the new academic journey would provide students with opportunities to develop not only academically but also personally and socially.

The Minister emphasized that college education should not remain confined to textbooks and classroom learning. According to him, college life is an important period for discovering one’s abilities, gaining knowledge and skills, developing values and preparing for future responsibilities.

“Today begins one of the most important chapters of your life,” Chowdhury told the students, stressing the importance of making the most of their time in higher education. He urged the newcomers to remain focused on their goals while developing a broad outlook towards life and society.

Chowdhury also highlighted the rich legacy and academic tradition of Maharaja Bir Bikram College. He expressed confidence that students graduating from the institution would use the knowledge and experience gained during their college years to make meaningful contributions to Tripura as well as the country.

The Minister said students should use their college years to build confidence, acquire new skills and develop a strong sense of responsibility. He also stressed the importance of values and humanity alongside academic achievement, noting that education should help young people become responsible citizens capable of contributing positively to society.

Extending his warm greetings and best wishes to all the newcomers, Chowdhury encouraged them to dream big and remain committed to achieving their ambitions. He urged students to work hard and stay steadfast even when they face challenges during their academic journey.

“Dream, work hard, and remain steadfast in your goals,” was the central message of his address to the freshers. He wished that their educational journey would be illuminated by knowledge, success, humanity and hope for a bright future.

The Minister further linked the aspirations of young students with the broader development of Tripura, expressing the expectation that their future achievements would contribute to the progress of the state. He said the success of the younger generation would ultimately strengthen Tripura’s future.
