Bangladesh and India are holding discussions over Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s proposed visit to New Delhi, with Dhaka expected to announce the date after an agreement. Talks also cover the Ganges Water Sharing Treaty and Tarique’s possible Türkiye visit in November.
Bangladesh and India are continuing talks on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s proposed visit to New Delhi, with Dhaka set to announce the date once the two sides reach an agreement, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir said on Monday (October 5). He made the remarks while speaking to journalists after attending the Bay of Bengal Conversation 2026 at the Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka.
“Discussions are ongoing over the prime minister’s visit to India. Once the date is finalised, Dhaka will announce it,” Humayun stated. He also said Tarique Rahman may travel to Türkiye in November to attend a climate conference.

On the Ganges Water Sharing Treaty, which is due to expire later this year, the state minister said Bangladesh and India would discuss its future while keeping Bangladesh’s national interests in mind.
