Tripura CM Dr Manik Saha said the NDA is expected to win 90% of Village Committee seats while highlighting improved civic amenities, urban infrastructure, public services, law and order, and development initiatives ahead of municipal elections.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Sunday expressed confidence that the NDA formation would secure at least 90 percent of the seats in the recently held Village Committee (VC) elections across areas under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC). His statement came a day before the results of the elections, conducted on September 28, were scheduled to be declared.
Speaking to media persons, Dr Saha also highlighted the government’s development initiatives and improvements in civic services, particularly in urban areas, as the state prepares for the upcoming Urban Local Body elections.
The Chief Minister said the government remained committed to taking improved public services to people’s doorsteps by strengthening and modernising civic infrastructure. He said party workers should reach out to people and explain the development work undertaken by the government as part of preparations for the municipal elections.
Dr Saha also inaugurated the newly constructed office building of Ward No. 43 of the Agartala Municipal Corporation at Pratapgarh. He said the new infrastructure would help make civic services more accessible, faster and more effective for residents of the area.
“Providing improved services at the doorstep of the people is our commitment. With that objective, the work of strengthening and modernising the infrastructure for civic services is continuing,” the Chief Minister said in his message.
He said the newly constructed ward office would play an important role in ensuring that residents could access civic services more conveniently. The initiative, he added, was part of the broader effort to strengthen municipal infrastructure and improve service delivery at the local level.
On the issue of post-poll violence following the Village Committee elections, Dr Saha said the overall polling process had remained largely peaceful, with only a few isolated incidents reported.

“Before coming to post-poll violence, we have to look at the polling in the VCs. This time there was practically no violence other than that of a couple of stray incidents and one big incident. Investigation is underway to trace the people involved in the violence,” he said.
The Chief Minister expressed hope that there would be no further incidents of violence following the declaration of the election results. He said investigations into the reported incidents were underway.
Turning to the upcoming urban local body elections, Dr Saha said development of civic amenities and efforts to strengthen law and order had gained momentum across municipal areas.
According to the Chief Minister, several roads and lanes that had previously remained in poor condition were being improved, while infrastructure development work was being carried out in different localities.
Dr Saha strongly rejected criticism from opposition parties regarding the government’s urban development initiatives. He said the opposition’s claims did not reflect the development work being undertaken in different municipal areas.
“I am surprised to hear what the leaders from opposition parties have been saying on the urban projects we have undertaken. They are telling lies on the face of people. This is unacceptable,” he said.
The Chief Minister said the government was also undertaking measures to improve and beautify lakes and ponds located in municipal areas. He said attention was being given to basic civic requirements, including electricity connections, drinking water facilities and the supply of purified drinking water.
Law and order was another area highlighted by the Chief Minister. He said the government was working to improve the overall situation so that residents could access public services and carry out their daily activities without unnecessary difficulties.
Dr Saha further claimed that people were now facing fewer difficulties in accessing various government services and benefits. Services related to Aadhaar cards, certificates and allowances, he said, had become more accessible to citizens.
He alleged that people in the past often had to depend on intermediaries to access certain government services. The present government, he said, would not allow brokers or middlemen to interfere in the delivery of public services.

The Chief Minister’s remarks come at a time when political parties are preparing for the next phase of electoral activity in Tripura, with the municipal elections expected to focus heavily on development, civic infrastructure, public service delivery and governance.
Dr Saha urged party workers to communicate the government’s development initiatives directly to residents and emphasise improvements in civic services. The newly inaugurated Ward 43 office at Pratapgarh was presented as part of this broader effort to strengthen local-level infrastructure and make municipal services more accessible to citizens.
