Tripura Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy said Udaipur’s satellite town project has made significant progress, with the second round of landowner consultations held under the state’s first Land Pooling Scheme to develop modern infrastructure and improve urban living.
The Tripura government’s ambitious plan to develop the state’s first satellite town in Udaipur has made considerable progress, with the second phase of discussions with landowners held at the Rajarshi auditorium in Udaipur on Monday. Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy chaired the important consultation, emphasising the need for cooperation and participation from landowners for the successful implementation of the project.
The proposed satellite town is being developed under Tripura’s first Land Pooling Scheme, an initiative aimed at creating a planned and modern urban centre with improved civic facilities and infrastructure. According to Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, the administrative process for the project has already advanced significantly, while discussions with landowners remain a key component of the ongoing process.
The meeting was attended by Gomati Zilla Sabhadhipati Debal Debroy, Udaipur Municipal Council Chairperson Shital Chandra Majumder, District Magistrate, Sub-Divisional Magistrate and other officials. The participation of senior administrative representatives highlighted the importance being attached to the proposed urban development initiative.
Addressing the gathering, the Finance Minister stressed that land is one of the most crucial elements of the satellite town project. He said detailed consultations and exchanges of views with landowners are necessary to understand their concerns, obtain their opinions and secure their cooperation before taking the project forward.
The second round of discussions is expected to strengthen the participatory approach adopted by the administration. Engaging directly with landowners is considered important for building understanding about the Land Pooling Scheme and ensuring that the development process takes into account the interests and views of the people associated with the land.
Pranajit Singha Roy also highlighted the government’s broader plan to develop satellite towns in three districts of Tripura. He said Gomati district has made considerable progress in taking forward the initiative and thanked the district administration for its efforts in advancing the proposed Udaipur project.
The proposed satellite town is expected to bring together several modern urban facilities. Planned roads, improved connectivity, education and healthcare services, parks and green spaces, civic amenities and modern infrastructure are among the key features envisioned under the development plan.
The government expects the planned urban centre to contribute to the long-term development of Udaipur and the wider Gomati district. Improved connectivity and civic infrastructure could also support economic activity and create better conditions for residents as the area develops into a more organised urban centre.
The Finance Minister described the initiative as more than a government infrastructure project, stressing that its ultimate objective is to address public needs and improve the quality of life of residents. He said planned urban development would help create better living conditions and provide new opportunities for future generations.
He further underlined that the successful implementation of the satellite town project would depend on collective cooperation, consultation and coordinated efforts involving the government, administration, landowners and other stakeholders.

The Udaipur initiative is therefore being positioned as an important step in Tripura’s broader urban development efforts. With the administrative process progressing and consultations with landowners continuing, the proposed satellite town is expected to emerge as a major development project for Udaipur and Gomati district.
Pranajit Singha Roy expressed confidence that with the cooperation of all stakeholders, Udaipur could move towards becoming a more developed and modern urban centre in the coming years.
