A total of 10,889 nomination papers have been accepted after scrutiny for the TTAADC Village Committee General Election 2026, while 72 were rejected. The final candidate list will be released after the withdrawal deadline on September 11 at 3 pm.
The scrutiny of nomination papers for the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Village Committee (TTAADC) General Election, 2026, has been completed, with 10,889 nomination papers accepted and 72 rejected, State Election Commissioner Dr P.K. Chakraborty said.
The scrutiny was conducted by the concerned Returning Officers in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Village Committee (Election Conduct) Rules, 1996.
According to the State Election Commission, a total of 10,961 nomination papers were filed by 10,938 candidates for the upcoming Village Committee election. Following the scrutiny process, 10,889 nomination papers were found valid and accepted, while 72 nomination papers were rejected. The rejected nomination papers were associated with 49 candidates.
The State Election Commission clarified that the number of nomination papers and the number of candidates is not the same because a candidate can submit more than one nomination paper. As a result, rejection of one nomination paper does not automatically mean that the candidate’s candidature has been cancelled. If another nomination paper submitted by the same candidate has been accepted, the candidate can continue in the electoral contest.
Party-wise, the highest number of nomination papers was filed by the Tipra Motha Party (TMP), which submitted 4,391 papers. The CPI(M) followed with 2,487 nomination papers, while the BJP filed 1,974. The Others category accounted for 1,153 nomination papers, followed by IPFT with 486 and the Indian National Congress (INC) with 466. The CPI filed four nomination papers.
After scrutiny, TMP had 4,361 nomination papers accepted, while 2,456 nomination papers filed by CPI(M) were accepted. The BJP had 1,971 accepted nomination papers, followed by Others with 1,149, IPFT with 483 and INC with 465. All four nomination papers filed by the CPI were accepted.
The State Election Commission reported 72 rejected nomination papers in total. Of these, 31 belonged to CPI(M), 30 to TMP, four to Others, three each to BJP and IPFT, and one to INC. No nomination paper filed by the CPI was rejected.
In terms of candidates affected by rejected nominations, CPI(M) recorded the highest number at 27, followed by TMP with 11. BJP had three candidates whose nominations were rejected, while three IPFT candidates were also affected. One INC candidate and four candidates under the Others category had rejected nominations. No CPI candidate had a rejected nomination.
The election process will now move towards the withdrawal stage. Candidates who wish to withdraw their candidature are required to submit a written notice bearing their signature to the concerned Returning Officer before the prescribed deadline.
As per the notified election schedule, the last date and time for withdrawal of candidature is September 11, up to 3 pm. Candidates whose nominations have been finally accepted and who do not withdraw their candidature within the stipulated period will remain in the electoral contest.
The State Election Commission said that the final picture of the TTAADC Village Committee General Election, 2026, will become clear only after the withdrawal process is completed.

Therefore, the final list of candidates contesting the Village Committee election will be known after the withdrawal deadline. The scrutiny results have established the number of accepted and rejected nomination papers, but the final electoral field will depend on the candidates who choose to remain in the fray after the September 11 withdrawal deadline.
