Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) 18 will welcome Commonwealth Games 2026 winners Lovlina Borgohain, Asmita Dey, Jhandu Kumar and Sharmila Dhankar, celebrating their sporting achievements and inspiring journeys with host Amitabh Bachchan.
The upcoming episode of the popular quiz-based reality show Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 18 is set to celebrate India’s sporting excellence by welcoming Commonwealth Games 2026 winners Lovlina Borgohain, Asmita Dey, Jhandu Kumar and Sharmila Dhankar to the iconic hot seat. The special episode will feature the athletes alongside legendary host Amitabh Bachchan, highlighting their achievements, determination and inspiring journeys.
The episode will offer viewers an opportunity to learn about the personal struggles and professional challenges faced by the athletes while representing India on the international stage. Their appearance on Kaun Banega Crorepati is expected to bring their stories of perseverance and dedication to audiences across the country.
Para-athlete Sharmila Dhankar reflected on the challenges she faced away from the spotlight and described her invitation to the show as a celebration of the struggles that often remain unseen. She said that para-athletes spend years training while overcoming physical and societal barriers that few people witness.
Dhankar added that meeting Amitabh Bachchan and speaking with him was deeply encouraging. According to her, his words reinforced the belief that no struggle is wasted and that determination can help overcome seemingly impossible obstacles. She also highlighted the role of KBC in showing audiences that sheer willpower can help people conquer major challenges.
Boxer Lovlina Borgohain will also take the hot seat. The Indian boxer won a silver medal in the 75 kg category at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games. Speaking about her experience, Borgohain compared the pressure of appearing on KBC with the intensity of competing inside an Olympic boxing ring.
She said that while boxing depends heavily on muscle memory and instinct, sitting opposite Amitabh Bachchan presented an entirely different test of mental sharpness. Borgohain described representing India at global sporting events as one of the greatest privileges of her life and said that being recognized alongside fellow athletes on KBC would remain a memorable experience.
Judo athlete Asmita Dey will also feature in the special episode. Dey recalled watching Kaun Banega Crorepati with her family while growing up and imagining what it would be like to meet Amitabh Bachchan. She said that standing beside him on the KBC stage felt surreal.
Dey further explained that judo requires balance, concentration and years of disciplined preparation. She described the opportunity to share her sporting journey with viewers across India as a great honour and said the experience represented a proud moment for Indian judo.
Jhandu Kumar, who won India’s first medal at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games in men’s heavyweight para powerlifting, will also share his inspiring journey. Kumar spoke about the demanding nature of para-powerlifting and how athletes learn to overcome physical and mental barriers during training.
He said that he never imagined his sporting journey would eventually take him to the Kaun Banega Crorepati stage. Kumar also expressed his appreciation for Amitabh Bachchan’s words of encouragement and respect for the athletes’ hard work, saying the recognition would motivate para-athletes to continue pushing boundaries and making the country proud.
