Census 2027 begins in Tripura with the layout mapping exercise as the first phase officially underway. Around 8,000 enumerators and supervisors have been deployed for house-to-house mapping before digital household enumeration through a 33-question mobile application continues until August 30.

The first phase of Census 2027 officially commenced across Tripura on Saturday with the launch of the layout mapping exercise, marking the beginning of one of the country’s largest administrative data collection initiatives. The exercise is expected to lay the foundation for the subsequent phases of the nationwide census, officials said.

Director of Census Operations, Government of India, Ratan Biswas, visited Rajnagar to review the progress of the first day’s activities. Following his inspection, he expressed satisfaction over the smooth implementation of the exercise and praised the preparedness of the census machinery deployed across the state.

As part of the initial phase, supervisors have started conducting house-to-house visits to prepare layout maps of their designated areas. The mapping process, which will continue over the next four days, is being carried out according to the prescribed guidelines issued by the Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India. These layout maps are essential for accurately identifying residential structures and ensuring complete coverage during the enumeration process.

Officials stated that the second phase of Census 2027 will focus on household enumeration and collection of demographic and socio-economic information using a mobile application. Enumerators will record responses based on a 33-question schedule, making the census process more efficient, accurate, and digitally managed.

According to Ratan Biswas, approximately 8,000 personnel, including enumerators and supervisors, have been deployed across Tripura for the exercise. The extensive workforce has been trained to ensure that every household is properly covered and that data collection is conducted systematically.

The census operation in Tripura will continue until August 30, with officials emphasizing the importance of public cooperation for the successful completion of the exercise. Residents are encouraged to provide accurate information during visits by authorized census personnel to help create reliable demographic data for planning and policy formulation.

Census data plays a crucial role in shaping government welfare schemes, infrastructure planning, resource allocation, and socio-economic development strategies. The successful completion of the layout mapping exercise will pave the way for the next stages of Census 2027, ensuring comprehensive and accurate population data for the state and the nation.
