India’s industrial output growth, as measured by the Index of Industrial Production (IIP), expanded by 7.3 per cent in June this year on an annual basis. This follows May’s slightly downwardly revised growth rate of five per cent.
As per the data released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MOSPI), all four broad sectors posted positive growth in June. Electricity and gas supply sector growth expanded by 10.6 percent.
Manufacturing witnessed growth of 7.8 per cent. Water supply, sewerage and waste management rose by 6.1 per cent. Meanwhile, the mining and quarrying sector grew at a relatively modest pace of one per cent.
