China Open Badminton: PV Sindhu advances to  women’s singles second round

 
In the China Open Badminton, double Olympic medallist PV Sindhu advanced to the women’s singles second round after defeating fellow Indian player Unnati Hooda by 21-14, 9-21, 21-10 in a Round of 32 clash this afternoon. In the Men’s singles, Ayush Shetty defeated world number 11 Alwi Farhan of Indonesia by 21-17, 5-21, 21-17 to reach the Round of 16. In another round of 32 match this evening, Lakshya Sen will take on Japanese player Yushi Tanaka. 
In men’s doubles, the Indian pair of MR Arjun and Hariharan Amsakarunan lost to China’s Wang Chang and Liang Weikeng by 16-21, 7-21 in the round of 32 match. 
In mixed doubles, the Indian pair of Rohan Kapoor and Ruthvika Shivani Gadde lost to Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping of China by 9-21, 16-21 in round of 32. India’s Tanisha Crasto and Dhruv Kapila also exited the tournament after suffering a defeat to China’s Guo Xinwa and Chen Fanghui 18-21, 18-21.
