Tripura Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury reviewed the Sachindranagar Eco-Tourism and Adventure Park project in Jirania. Expected to open within a year, the Nicco Park-inspired destination aims to boost tourism, create employment, attract domestic and international visitors, and strengthen Tripura’s economy.
Tripura Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Wednesday conducted an extensive on-site inspection of the under-construction Eco-Tourism and Adventure Park at Sachindranagar in Jirania, a flagship tourism project being developed on the lines of Kolkata’s renowned Nicco Park. The visit highlighted the state government’s continued commitment to strengthening tourism infrastructure and promoting sustainable economic growth through eco-friendly development.
The inspection was attended by Tourism Department Secretary Uttam Kumar Chakma, Tourism Director Prashant Badal Negi, senior officials of the department, representatives of the construction agency, local leaders, and residents of the area. During the visit, the team reviewed the progress of the ongoing construction work and discussed various aspects related to the timely completion of the project.
Speaking after the inspection, Minister Sushanta Chowdhury expressed satisfaction with the pace of construction and stated that the ambitious project is expected to be completed within the next one year. Once completed, the eco-tourism and adventure park will be opened to the public, offering visitors a modern recreational destination equipped with adventure-based attractions while maintaining a strong focus on environmental sustainability.

The minister emphasized that the project is expected to significantly enhance Tripura’s tourism sector by attracting both domestic and international tourists. Inspired by the successful model of Kolkata’s Nicco Park, the Sachindranagar facility is being designed as a world-class destination that combines entertainment, eco-tourism, and adventure activities in a natural setting.
According to the minister, the upcoming park will not only provide a new leisure destination for visitors but also generate substantial employment opportunities for local residents. The project is expected to support businesses connected to tourism, including hospitality, transport, food services, and local handicrafts, thereby creating a positive economic impact across the region.
Officials said the eco-tourism initiative forms an important part of Tripura’s broader tourism development strategy, aimed at promoting sustainable tourism while preserving the state’s rich natural environment. The project is also expected to improve the state’s visibility on the national tourism map and encourage increased investment in tourism-related infrastructure.
