In Men’s Cricket, India defeated Afghanistan by seven wickets in a rain-affected first One Day International of the three-match series in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, last night. Chasing 195 runs, India overhauled the target in 22.5 overs.
Indian Skipper Shubman Gill scored unbeaten 84 off 66 balls. Earlier, put into bat, Afghanistan were bowled out for 194 in 24.5 overs. Shubman Gill was adjudged player of the match.
For Afghanistan, Rahmanullah Gurbaz smashed a brilliant century, scoring 102 off 51 balls. For India, debutant Harsh Dubey and Gurnoor Brar clinched three wickets each. The match was reduced to 25 overs-per-side after relentless rains delayed the start. India won the toss and elected to field first.
The 2nd ODI between India and Afghanistan is scheduled for 17th June at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
