The Tripura State Election Commission (SEC) has announced that the final electoral roll for the upcoming Village Committee (VC) elections under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) will be published on June 15, marking a significant step in the electoral process.
Addressing reporters, State Election Commission Secretary Anurag Sen said that the draft electoral roll will be published on June 2, allowing eligible voters and stakeholders to verify their details. Citizens will have the opportunity to submit claims, objections, or requests for corrections in the voter list until June 9.
Sen stated that preparations for the Village Committee elections began shortly after the completion of the general elections to the TTAADC. As part of the preliminary arrangements, the commission had already issued notifications regarding the finalisation of polling stations. The latest notification focuses on the preparation and publication of electoral rolls, a crucial component of the election process.
“The draft list will be published on June 2, and claims related to it can be submitted until June 9. The final voter list shall be published on June 15,” Sen informed.
The Village Committee elections are expected to witness significant participation across the tribal areas of the state. According to the Election Commission, polling will be conducted for more than 2,600 seats spread across 587 Village Committees under the TTAADC jurisdiction.
To facilitate smooth polling operations, a total of 1,550 polling stations have been identified across various blocks. Election officials are currently engaged in updating voter records and making logistical preparations to ensure free, fair, and transparent elections.
