Tripura CM Manik Saha reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the socio-economic growth of street vendors under the PM SVANidhi scheme. Over 9,500 loans have been sanctioned, with Rs 15.28 crore disbursed, promoting self-reliance, digital transactions, financial inclusion, and sustainable livelihood opportunities across the state.

Reaffirming the state government’s commitment to the welfare and upliftment of street vendors, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Sunday said that the present government is working with sincerity and dedication to address the challenges faced by street vendors while ensuring their socio-economic development.

The Chief Minister made the remarks while addressing beneficiaries and participants at a benefit distribution programme organized under the Pradhan Mantri Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) scheme at Muktadhara Auditorium in Agartala. The event was attended by Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, senior government officials, beneficiaries of the scheme, and other dignitaries.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Saha emphasized the important role played by street vendors in the state’s economy and praised their contribution towards maintaining financial discipline. He noted that the PM SVANidhi scheme has emerged as a significant initiative in empowering small vendors by providing easy access to credit, encouraging digital transactions, and promoting self-reliance among beneficiaries.

Highlighting the achievements of the scheme in Tripura, the Chief Minister informed that a total of 19,727 loan applications have been received under PM SVANidhi so far. Out of these, 9,578 applications have been approved and loans amounting to Rs 15.28 crore have been disbursed to eligible beneficiaries.

Dr. Saha further stated that nearly 5,000 street vendors have successfully repaid their loans, demonstrating financial responsibility and the effectiveness of the scheme. According to him, the repayment record reflects the commitment of beneficiaries towards improving their livelihoods and becoming economically self-sufficient.

The Chief Minister also expressed gratitude to the Central Government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for extending the PM SVANidhi scheme until March 31, 2030. He said the decision would provide long-term support to thousands of street vendors and help strengthen ongoing efforts aimed at improving their economic security and business prospects.

In addition, Dr. Saha welcomed the enhancement of loan sanctions under the scheme, stating that increased financial assistance would enable vendors to expand their businesses, improve income generation, and secure better living standards for their families.

He reiterated that the government remains focused on inclusive development and is committed to ensuring that every section of society benefits from welfare initiatives and economic opportunities. The Chief Minister added that empowering street vendors is a key component of building a stronger and more self-reliant economy.

Following the benefit distribution programme, attendees gathered to listen to the 134th episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mann Ki Baat. The programme was organized under Booth No. 11 of the Bordowali Assembly Constituency at the Muktadhara Auditorium.
