Benchmark domestic equity indices rebounded from earlier losses and ended with marginal gains today. The Sensex rose 118 points to close at 75,318 while the Nifty added 41 points to settle at 23, 659. Meanwhile, the broader market on the National Stock Exchange also ended in the positive territory. The Mid-cap 100 jumped half a per cent, while the Small-cap 100 ended on a flat note with positive bias.
In the Sensex pack, shares of 15 out of 30 companies registered gains. Among the top performers, Reliance jumped 2.8 per cent, Bajaj Finserv climbed 1.3 per cent and Trent advanced one per cent. In contrast, Bharat Electronics Limited tanked 2.3 per cent, Tech Mahindra dropped 1.8 per cent, and Eternal lost one and a half per cent.
In the sectoral indices at the BSE, 21 out of 25 sectors ended in positive territory. In the top gainers, Power rose 1.8 per cent, Capital Goods climbed one and a half per cent and Energy added 1.4 per cent. Among the top losers, FMCG fell by 0.6 per cent, Focused IT lost 0.3 per cent, and IT dropped by 0.2 per cent.
The overall market breadth at the BSE was positive, as shares of 2 thousand 120 companies advanced, 1 thousand 981 declined, and 209 remained unchanged.
