Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Beijing for a crucial State Visit to China, holding talks with President Xi Jinping on strategic partnership, global stability, economic cooperation, and regional issues amid rising geopolitical tensions and expanding bilateral collaboration.

Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Beijing late Tuesday for a two-day State Visit to China, where he is expected to hold extensive discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping on bilateral cooperation, regional developments, and major international issues shaping the global political landscape.

The visit, taking place from May 19 to 20 at the invitation of President Xi, marks Putin’s 25th official trip to China and reflects the growing importance of ties between Moscow and Beijing amid evolving geopolitical dynamics. According to China’s foreign ministry, the two leaders are expected to exchange views on a wide range of subjects, including political coordination, economic collaboration, security matters, and global strategic concerns.

This year carries special significance for both nations as it marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Russia strategic partnership of coordination and the 25th anniversary of the signing of the China-Russia Treaty of Good-Neighbourliness and Friendly Cooperation. Chinese officials described the visit as an important opportunity to further deepen long-term cooperation and reinforce stability in international affairs.

Chinese foreign ministry representatives stated that Beijing and Moscow aim to elevate their partnership to a higher level while contributing “positive energy” to the international community. The visit comes at a time when both countries continue to strengthen diplomatic and economic coordination in response to global uncertainties and shifting alliances.

Ahead of his arrival in Beijing, Putin released a video address praising the current state of Russia-China relations. He said the relationship between the two countries has reached “a truly unprecedented level,” highlighting the importance of regular meetings and top-level dialogue between both governments.

Putin emphasized that continuous diplomatic engagement has become an essential part of expanding cooperation and unlocking the “limitless potential” of bilateral relations. He noted that the partnership is built on mutual trust, respect, and a commitment to fair and mutually beneficial cooperation.

The Russian President also stressed that Moscow and Beijing consistently support each other on issues connected to sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national unity. According to Putin, this shared approach has created a stable foundation for broader collaboration across multiple sectors, including trade, energy, infrastructure, technology, and international diplomacy.

He further stated that the upcoming talks in Beijing would focus on accelerating comprehensive development and strengthening long-term coordination between the two countries. Analysts believe the discussions may also include ongoing geopolitical tensions, economic challenges, and strategic cooperation in multilateral forums.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko indicated that the recent visit of US President Donald Trump to China could also become part of the discussions between Putin and Xi. While no official details were provided regarding the agenda, the possibility highlights the broader international context surrounding the Beijing summit.
