Appointment letters were distributed to 865 newly selected postgraduate teachers in Agartala, highlighting the government’s focus on quality education and employment generation.

The Tripura government has recruited a total of 7,104 teachers since 2018 as part of its efforts to strengthen the education sector and create employment opportunities for educated youth, Chief Minister Manik Saha said on Wednesday.

The Chief Minister made the announcement while addressing an appointment letter distribution ceremony organized by the School Education Department at Rabindra Shatabarshi Bhavan in Agartala. During the event, appointment letters were distributed to 865 newly selected Post Graduate Teachers for various schools across the state.

Dr. Saha stated that the state government has been working consistently to fill vacant posts in different departments through a transparent and merit-based recruitment process. He emphasized that qualified candidates are now receiving government jobs purely on the basis of merit without the need for recommendations or political influence.

According to the Chief Minister, under the Secondary Education Department, the government has appointed 1,471 Post Graduate Teachers, 444 Graduate Teachers, 88 Special Educators, 115 School Librarians, and 106 Physical Education Teachers since 2018.

Dr. Saha also highlighted recruitment carried out in other categories. Under the die-in-harness scheme, 236 individuals were appointed to Lower Division Clerk and Group-D posts through the Teachers’ Recruitment Board, Tripura. In addition, the Joint Recruitment Board of Tripura recruited 117 individuals in Lower Division Clerk posts and 450 Multi Tasking Staff posts under Secondary Education. Another 47 Lower Division Clerks and 122 Multi Tasking Staff were also recruited, taking the total recruitment through the Joint Recruitment Board to 736.

The Chief Minister said the government has already submitted additional requisitions to the Teachers’ Recruitment Board for further recruitment in the education sector.

He informed that the state government has provided 20,960 jobs, including appointments under the die-in-harness category, till May 8 this year. Besides regular employment, the government has also generated 24,078 contractual and outsourced jobs since the financial year 2018-19.

“These figures clearly demonstrate that despite financial constraints, the government continues to focus on employment generation, infrastructure development, and the welfare of the people,” Dr. Saha said during his address.

The Chief Minister described the recruitment of 865 Post Graduate Teachers as an important milestone in fulfilling the aspirations of the state’s educated youth. He said the newly appointed teachers would play a major role in improving the quality of education in Tripura.

Dr. Saha urged the teachers to discharge their responsibilities with honesty, dedication, and commitment. He stressed that teachers are instrumental in shaping future generations and building responsible citizens for society.

He also underlined the importance of adopting modern teaching methods and integrating technology into classroom learning to meet the demands of contemporary education. According to him, education should not remain limited to textbooks alone, and teachers should use innovative approaches to make learning more effective and engaging.

He noted that if students achieve academic success and grow into responsible individuals, it becomes a matter of pride not only for families but also for teachers who contribute significantly to their development.

Dr. Saha said the state government is simultaneously focusing on educational infrastructure development and teacher recruitment to strengthen the overall education system in Tripura. He added that transparency remains one of the key principles of the government’s functioning in both developmental projects and recruitment processes.
