In the Asian Under-15 Boxing Championships, India’s six pugilists advanced to the finals, while seven others settled for bronze medals in Tashkent yesterday.
In the semifinal bouts, Yash Kumar entered the 33 kg final with a dominant 5-0 victory over Kiyan Iqbal of the UAE. In the 37 kg category, Sastha Vasanth Ashok Kumar defeated Aziretali Sanzharbekov of Kyrgyzstan.
In the 43 kg category, Samir Bohra registered a 4-1 win over Adizbek Ilkhombekov of Uzbekistan, while Sudarsan Vasudeva Chandak secured an RSC victory against Iran’s Amirmahdi Shad in the 52 kg category of the semifinal bouts.
In the 58 kg category semifinal bout, Mohd Yasser defeated Seyyedariyamohammad Mousa of Iran by a unanimous 5-0 verdict. Ronak Parag Lokhande completed India’s winning run with an RSC victory over Mukhammadali Berdikulov of Kyrgyzstan in the 67 kg category.
However, Rohit Pothina, Nitin, Nongpoknganba Meitei Oina, Parshant, Harshvardhan Jeena, Dev and Sushant Jayani lost their semifinal bouts and secured bronze medals in their respective categories.
The six Indian finalists will now aim for gold medals in their respective weight divisions.
