Tripura Bar Association is likely to hold its elections on June 13 as the draft voter list featuring 596 voters has been published. The upcoming polls will elect a new two-year committee with reserved posts for women members.
The Tripura Bar Association has moved forward with preparations for its upcoming elections by publishing the draft voter list and indicating June 13 as the tentative polling date. The announcement was made by association secretary Kaushik Indu on Thursday.
Speaking to reporters, Indu said the election process had been delayed this year because of the Bar Council elections conducted in February. He stated that the draft voter list has already been released and the final voter list will be published after necessary corrections and revisions are completed.
According to the draft voter list, the total number of eligible voters currently stands at 596. The figure reflects an increase in voter strength compared to the previous election, indicating growing participation within the legal community associated with the state’s largest bar association.
The elections will determine the new executive committee of the Tripura Bar Association for a tenure of two years. The association committee consists of 15 posts, with nearly 30 percent of the positions reserved for women members to ensure wider representation and participation in the administrative structure of the body.
Indu informed that one of the assistant secretary posts has specifically been reserved for women candidates. The move is being viewed as part of broader efforts to encourage gender inclusion and balanced representation within professional legal institutions in the state.
The final schedule for the election process, including nomination filing, scrutiny, withdrawal dates, and polling arrangements, is expected to be officially announced after the publication of the final voter list. Legal practitioners across the state are closely watching the developments as the association prepares for one of its important organizational exercises.
