The campaign for the upcoming assembly election intensifies in North Bengal. The leaders of different political parties are holding rallies, road shows, public meetings and door to door campaigns. Senior BJP leader and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a massive Parivartan Sankalp Rally at Kawakhali, Siliguri in support of its 13 candidates from Darjeeling Hills and Jalpaiguri districts assembly constituencies.
Thousands of party workers and supporters from Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri districts are expected to participate in the massive rally. BJP is contesting on all 5 seats under Darjeeling district, 1 seat under Kalimpong District and 7 seats of Jalpaiguri District. In view of the PM’s today’s rally security has been beefed up. The voting on these seats will be held on April 23 in the first phase. counting will be done on May 4. Mr. Modi reached Siliguri yesterday evening and held a Mega Road show in Siliguri amid very tight security.
He started the Road Show from Bihar More at Bagdogra and reached Khaprail Bazar covering almost 15 kilometers. Thousands of people lined up on both sides of the road to welcome the Prime Minister. Mr. Modi greeted the enthusiastic people. During the road show Mr. Modi stopped his convoy and gave passage to the ambulances. At several places Mr. Modi stopped his convoy, got down from the vehicle and greeted the people in person. After addressing a big BJP rally at Kushmandi, under South Dinajpur district of North Bengal, he arrived at Bagdogra Airport, Siliguri. TMC leader and the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is scheduled to hold a massive election rally on April 15 at Siliguri.
