Kolkata: The British Deputy High Commission, Kolkata launched the UK-India Sports Calendar 2023 in collaboration with Calcutta Sports Journalists Club in Kolkata on Monday.

The Sports Calendar was launched by Christina Scott, British Deputy High Commissioner to India and Nick Low, British Deputy High Commissioner to Kolkata, Prabir Roy Chowdhury, Advisor, Calcutta Sports Journalists Club and Poulomi Ghatak, Olympian and table tennis player.

The UK-India Sports Calendar features photographs of UK-India sporting events captured by nine sports journalists from Kolkata.

The contributing photographers are Abhijit Addya, Arindam Banerjee, Debasish Datta, Debasish Sen, Elora Sen, Rony Roy, Sabyasachi Sarkar, Suven Raha and Tapan Mohanta.

Christina Scott, British Deputy High Commissioner to Indiasaid: Im delighted to be in Kolkata for the first time. Congratulations to all the sports journalists who have contributed to the UK-India Sports Calendar.The UK has a global sporting reputation one thats underpinned by the presence of several huge sports brands and an unrivalled experience of delivering global sporting events. Its also the leading European SportsTech market equipped with some of the worlds leading venture capital and investment funds, an array of leading academic and sporting institutions, and innovative and creative companies.

Nick Low, British Deputy High Commissioner to East and Northeast India said: Whether its England, India and Wales contesting the Hockey World Cup in Odisha, CheteshwarPujara scoring runs in England and Jos Buttler scoring runs in India, or Manchester Uniteds recent roadshow in Kolkata, sport unites us. It builds bridges between people. And its been at the heart of the living bridge between our two great countries since the nineteenth century. Those ties are stronger than ever and they are what we celebrate in our UK/India GREAT Sports Calendar.
