On the third day of the Khelo India Tribal Games currently underway in Chhattisgarh, competitions in swimming, weightlifting, hockey and football are being held today in Raipur. Meanwhile, wrestling events are also commencing today at Ambikapur, the headquarters of the Surguja division.
In football, during the women’s group stage matches played this morning, Jharkhand defeated Assam by nine goals to one. In another match, Gujarat registered a dominant victory over Andhra Pradesh, scoring twenty-five goals while conceding none. The first edition of the Khelo India Tribal Games began in Chhattisgarh on the 25th of March and will continue till the 3rd of April.
A total of seven disciplines are being contested in the Games, including archery, athletics, football, hockey, swimming, weightlifting and wrestling. Mallakhamb and kabaddi have been included as demonstration sports. More than three thousand athletes from thirty states and Union Territories are participating in the event.
