As the deadline for withdrawal of nomination papers ends today, a clear picture of the electoral contest in all 140 constituencies of Keralam will be available by the afternoon. According to data available till yesterday evening, a total of 985 candidates remain in the fray. Out of 2,125 nomination papers submitted, 1,754 were accepted, while 357 were rejected during scrutiny. So far, 14 candidates have withdrawn their nominations.
Meanwhile, senior national leaders have intensified campaign activities across Keralam, signalling the beginning of a high-voltage election season. Political parties are actively engaging voters as campaigning gathers momentum. Security and surveillance measures have also been strengthened across the state. Police have conducted route marches in several areas, and multiple enforcement agencies have intensified inspections. The agencies seized more than 19 lakh rupees yesterday
