Tripura presents ambitious Rural Development roadmap for 2026–27 in Delhi, highlighting TRLM achievements, SHG empowerment, Lakhpati Didi expansion, infrastructure boost, and women-led economic transformation through strategic partnerships and livelihood programs.

In a push toward inclusive growth and grassroots empowerment, a high-level delegation from Tripura on Wednesday presented an ambitious Rural Development (RD) roadmap for the Financial Year 2026–27 before central authorities in New Delhi. The delegation, led by Rural Development Secretary Abhishek Singh, outlined a comprehensive strategy focused on strengthening livelihoods, expanding women-led enterprises, and enhancing rural infrastructure across the state.

A major highlight of the presentation was the performance and future blueprint of the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM), which continues to play a pivotal role in transforming rural economies. TRLM Chief Executive Officer Tarit Kanti Chakma detailed the mission’s achievements and emphasized its renewed focus on empowering Self-Help Groups (SHGs), particularly women-led collectives.

One of the standout successes shared during the meeting was the “Samriddhi” campaign, which has significantly boosted SHG-driven economic activities in Tripura. The first phase, Samriddhi 1.0, generated an impressive business turnover of Rs. 198 crore, while Samriddhi 2.0 surpassed expectations with Rs. 248 crore, reflecting growing participation and improved market linkages for rural entrepreneurs.

In a strategic move to further accelerate women’s economic empowerment, TRLM has partnered with the Indian Institute of Management, Kolkata. The collaboration aims to nurture high-performing SHG members into “Millionaire Didis” and “Crorepati Didis” through structured enterprise development programs, advanced training, and capacity-building initiatives.

The state government has also made remarkable strides under the “Lakhpati Didi” initiative. Financial assistance worth Rs. 100 crore has already been disbursed to one lakh beneficiaries, a program inaugurated by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha. Encouraged by its success, the government has now increased its target to 1.35 lakh Lakhpati Didis, up from the earlier goal of 1.13 lakh, signaling a strong commitment to scaling up women-led prosperity.

To further support income-generating activities, TRLM has sanctioned 60 vehicles for SHG members, enabling better mobility and business expansion opportunities. Additionally, an allocation of Rs. 110 crore has been proposed for infrastructure development in the upcoming financial year, aiming to strengthen rural supply chains and enterprise ecosystems.

In a bid to enhance market accessibility for SHG products, the state plans to establish “SHE Marts” in all districts. These dedicated outlets will serve as key platforms for promoting locally produced goods, ensuring better visibility and fair market opportunities for rural artisans and entrepreneurs.

The presentation also highlighted the mission’s achievements under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY), which focuses on skill development and employment for rural youth. A proposed allocation of Rs. 49.92 crore for 2026–27 aims to expand training programs and improve placement outcomes.

Further, under the Vibrant Villages Programme, the state has identified 87 villages across 23 blocks in border areas for focused development. The initiative will prioritize livelihood generation, infrastructure enhancement, and sustainable growth in these strategically important regions.

As part of the visit, the Tripura delegation felicitated officials from the Ministry of Rural Development with locally produced SHG items, showcasing the state’s growing rural enterprise ecosystem and its commitment to promoting indigenous products.
