F1 postpones Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix in April due to West Asia conflict

Must Read

Formula 1 has announced that the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix will not take place in April due to the ongoing war in West Asia. The statement from the Liberty media-owned sport governing body, the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), said the races will not be replaced on the calendar next month. The statement said while alternatives were considered, no substitutions will be made in April. F1 was due to race in Bahrain on April 12 and in the Saudi Arabian city of Jeddah on April 19.
Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of F1 said while this was a difficult decision to take, it is unfortunately the right one at this stage considering the current situation in the Middle East.
FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem said the FIA will always place the safety and well being of their community and colleagues first.
Formula 1 is one of the world’s most prestigious motor racing competition.
