Today is World Cancer Day. The day is observed on the 4th of February every year to raise cancer awareness and encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment. Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda today said that the day serves as a reminder to support cancer survivors and encourage regular screenings for a healthier society.
In a social media post, Mr Nadda highlighted that the establishment of Cancer Day Care units in every district and the exemption of customs duties on important cancer medicines will provide major relief to patients. He also stated that the Ayushman Arogya Mandirs are strengthening the fight against cancer through large-scale screenings, enabling early detection and timely treatment across the country.
This year, World Cancer Day is being observed under the theme – United by Unique to place people at the centre of care and their stories at the heart of the conversation. The theme is part of a three-year campaign, running since 2025, emphasising the significance of customised care, understanding that each person’s cancer experience is unique.
