Tripura achieves historic national success in Panchayat Advancement Index 2.0, with three Panchayats securing top national ranks, reflecting strong grassroots governance, people-centric development, and efficient Panchayati Raj institutions under visionary leadership.
Tripura has scripted a remarkable chapter in grassroots governance by achieving unprecedented success at the national level under the Panchayat Advancement Index (PAI) 2.0, reaffirming the state’s commitment to strong, transparent, and people-centric local self-government.
According to the official results of PAI 2.0, Yugalkishore Nagar Village Committee under the Jampuijala RD Block of Sipahijala district secured the first position nationwide, scoring an impressive 88.44 points. The ranking places the village committee at the very top among nearly 2.5 lakh Gram Panchayats across India, making it a historic achievement not only for Tripura but also for the country’s decentralised governance framework.
Adding to this exceptional performance, Dakshin Nalchar Gram Panchayat under Nalchar RD Block secured the third position nationally with a score of 88.14, while Checharimai Gram Panchayat of Charilam RD Block earned the fourth position, scoring 87.85. The presence of three Panchayats from Tripura in the national top four underscores the effectiveness of the state’s Panchayati Raj institutions and their focus on inclusive development.
The Panchayat Advancement Index (PAI) 2.0 is a comprehensive performance assessment framework developed to evaluate Gram Panchayats across multiple themes, including governance, infrastructure, social development, economic growth, environmental sustainability, and citizen participation. High scores under this index reflect not only administrative efficiency but also active public involvement and long-term development planning at the grassroots level.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha described the achievement as an extraordinary milestone for Tripura, stating that the results reflect a well-organised, efficient, and empowered Panchayat system. He congratulated all elected representatives, Panchayat officials, and associated stakeholders for their dedication and teamwork, emphasizing that such success strengthens the foundation of democratic decentralisation.
Echoing similar sentiments, Minister Kishor Barman termed the achievement a historic moment for the state, highlighting that Tripura has once again emerged as a symbol of excellence on the national stage. He noted that the success is a direct outcome of strong institutional mechanisms, transparent governance, and active people’s participation, which together drive sustainable rural development.

The state government has consistently focused on capacity building, digital governance, service delivery reforms, and participatory planning, all of which have contributed to this national recognition.
With this achievement, Tripura has reinforced its vision of empowered Panchayats, self-reliant villages, and inclusive growth, demonstrating how effective grassroots governance can translate into measurable national success.
