Jammu/UNI: Tight blanket of security cover has been put in place across the region as Union Home Minister Amit Shah would be visiting the bordering Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday to meet the families of those killed in the recent attacks at village Dhangri.

Shah, however, will also chair a security review meeting and is likely to announce measures to strengthen the Village Defence Committees of the district.

Sources in the administration said that the Union Home Minister will reach Dhangri village in the morning on Friday, adding: Security arrangements have been put in place to ensure smooth arrival of the Home Minister.

A high alert has been sounded on highways, Rajouri district and also in parts of Jammu while all security agencies are on alert, they added.

The Home Minister will meet members of all three families who have lost their family members in the January 1 attack in Dhangri, sources said and added that he also may hand over job letters to next of NoKs of Dhangri attack victims.

A senior BJP leader confirmed the visit and said that Shah will fly back to Delhi after chairing a security meet in Jammu.

The Home Minister after meeting the family members of the slain will chair a high level security meeting here where top officials of police, army, CRPF, BSF and other security agencies will participate, he added.

Sources said that the Home Minister will get feedback from the security officials on the recent Dhangri village attack and the progress achieved so far in the investigations of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the police top brass.

Notably, the villagers in their memorandum submitted recently to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha demanded the strengthening of VDCs on the lines of Doda district and covering the entire district under strict CCTV surveillance.
